Default Keyword density and rankings

We are experiancing some savage rankings changes - both up and down !

We have dropped results even in areas which are the recipiant of huge numbers of organic themed links. Up in areas which we have currently done no work.

I discovered a very low % keyword on some of the ranking pages - as low as 0.75 % on the main single word phrase.

what do you guys think th correct range for keywords is ?

5% -15% or a little lower ?

Default the top 3 sites and work out an average density.

I have found that my compeditors do very well with low or no keyword density.
I have been experimenting with my density and have found the lower the better with regards allintext results.
But you may find the opposite.
I would like me monitor your competitors densities say the top 3 sites and work out an average density.
Mine were 0, 2.5 and 5 % so I started with about 3 % do little changes then you can go backwards if it doesn't work out.

Default Keyword density is only one of 100 other things you need to check to get good ranking

Keyword density is only one of 100 other things you need to check to get good rankings. Don't think that by adding more keywords to your page you will be #1 tomorrow.

For highly competative words Google focuses more on your anchor text so having a high density might dilute the actual strength of the anchor text. For example you can have an easy mathematical formula that divides andchor text by keyword density to get the desired effect.

300 backlinks with "widget" as the anchor text divided by 4 (density) = 75
300 backlinks with "widget" as the anchor text divided by 2 (density) = 150 <more weight

Not saying that what it is by it seems like it. This can give smaller sites a chance to rank near big sites because a site with 125 backlinks with "widget" as the anchor text divided by .75 (density) = 166.6

I think Google is looking for anchor text that isn't similar to the homepage keyword density. So the backlinks enforce what a site is about.

Just a hunch

From my last SEO Tests Google seemed to prefer the page with 8% KD over all the rest.

I have a website about diet pills and I added the word "expert" and "authority" throughout the websites content (h1, h2, bold tags) and now I am in the top 10...

SO EASY! Goodluck!
